Antarctica – Glacial Ice Melting

Our goal is measure the oxygen and hydrogen isotopic composition of the Pine Island Bay, Amundsen Sea, Ross Sea, and Terra Nova Bay to understand the impacts of glacial melt in western Antarctica.

We seek to understand the dynamics of carbon budgets on different marine ecosystems (e.g. kelp forests, coral reefs, sea grass beds) and how they become more or less vulnerable to ocean acidification.

We utilize deep sea coral and tropical coral records to reconstruct recent climate change as well as develop new proxies.
